the teacher

During all the years spent dancing, one thing was irrefutably clear to me. I never, ever, ever wanted to become a ballet teacher. A warning for all who have had the same thought, “never call a devil”! Here I am, a teacher of now thirty years. My first classes were a helpful jumping in to teach company classes for missing or overstretched/stressed ballet masters. Then, I was asked if I would join a pool of teachers that offered open classes for professional dancers in Zürich. Next came an offer to teach in an adult dance educational system. I have taken part in various summer dance workshops throughout Europe and taught for numerous professional companies. For someone who never, ever, ever wanted to teach, I have taught a heck of a lot of classes. And it was worth it. I have learned so much about myself, my profession, people and just life in general from these experiences. Still teaching and still finding the love and fascination for it. A big thank you to the devil who came when called.
